There was a time when the identity of such a man described in Proverbs 30:4 was what the Bible calls a mystery. At the time of its writing, this was a conundrum but not in our day. There was never a man who had descended nor ascended, Jesus has done both. There was never a man who could command the winds until Jesus Came, not only commanded them but gathered them up in his hands, that is he was the sender and the calmer of the storm. Never had a man been able to control the waters, the sender and banisher of the waves. Nor was there a man who established the ends of the earth, but Jesus did. Jesus is the fullness of all wisdom and knowledge, several thousand years after the writing of this dark saying, we have been blessed with the light of revelation that clears up all the dark sayings of old.
What is his name? Jesus. The Son of God, The Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the end. To the hungry, he is The Bread of Life, to the thirsty He is The Water of Life. To those who have lost their way, He is The Way, for those looking for truth, He is The Truth, and for those looking for life, he is The Life. He is "The mighty God," Proven by his many works, his testimony, and the chief witness of his resurrection. They couldn't tell in Agur's day but we can. Who is the fullness of wisdom and knowledge? "In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." [Col 2:3] Who is the fullness of the God? "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." [Col2:9]. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is his Name!
Perhaps life has thrown you a curveball and you're left with questions like Agur's. Where can I find purpose? Where can I find meaning? Why am I here? Who is in control of all this mess? Is there anyone who cares? There is an answer to your questions. "What is his name, and what is his Son's name, if thou canst tell?" Jesus Christ is his name and he is the answer to all your questions.
O soul are you weary and troubled
No light in the darkness you see
There's light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free
His word shall not fail you he promised
Believe him and all will be well
Then go to a world that is dying
His perfect salvation to tell
O soul are you weary and troubled
No light in the darkness you see
There's light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace
